COVER STORY: FGI of Philadelphia gets to know Dom Streater

Dom

Dom Streater is an American fashion designer, who after winning season 12 of the Emmy award winning television series, Project Runway, quickly made her sartorial mark on the industry with her use of graphic and never before seen art based prints.

Dom dishes with us about being on tv, how she feels about Philadelphia, and current projects!  Meet Dom, Pamela Ptak, and Jay McCarroll in person next Tuesday night at the Project Runway Reunion.

FGI of Philly: What was your favorite moment and most cherished memory being on Project Runway?

DS: Most people would think it would be winning! But actually it’s all the moments that the cast has off camera that really are my favorite moments. I loved “glamping” with my cast mates and forming bonds having fun in the woods! I also loved hanging out on Coney Island during the Unconventional challenge. I think we can all say we’re friends for life.

FGI of Philly: What are your thoughts on the renaissance happening in Philadelphia’s fashion industry and what opportunities do you see for the city?

DS: I feel Philly is in a really great place for fashion to blossom right now! We are not as big as New York, so, there is a really nice community of support and appreciation that we have built. It is also a city full of pioneers and creative thinkers so there is tremendous potential for amazing and inspiring work to grow.

FGI of Philly: What amazing things are you currently working on?

DS: I am finishing up a special collaboration with Visit Philly for very well-known Philly native band! I also worked on a huge project this summer which will be announced soon so stay tuned!
