Recap: Sustainability- Making Fashion Without Making Waste

3s a crowdPhiladelphia Fashion Incubator and Fashion Group International Philadelphia hosted ‘Sustainability: Making Fashion without Making Waste on Thursday, May 4th at One Logan in Center City Philadelphia. Diane Phillips, Sustainability Expert, Professor of Marketing, St. Joseph’s University moderated the discussion with Tara St. James, Owner/Designer, Study NY, Brooklyn Fashion & Design Accelerator; Joanne Litz, Owner/Designer, Steel Pony, located on 4th st/historic fabric row, Philadelphia; Christie Sommers, Owner/Designer, West Oak Design, 2017 Designer in Residence, Philadelphia Fashion Incubator.

It was an informative discussion with many questions from the audience of approx 60+ attendees. Guests enjoyed light refreshments, Ecco Domani wine, Sparkling Ice beverages and took home a Philadelphia Style Magazine.

The three womenswear experts committed to creating their eco-friendly fashion brands expounded on how they lessen environmental impact, source and manufacture locally using ethical fabrics, and more.

The 2017 Designers’ in Residence with the Philadelphia Fashion Incubator displayed some of their designs and guests enjoyed mixing and mingling.

The public program series is a collaboration between Fashion Group International and Philadelphia Fashion Incubator.
